Internships are offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters

Located in Seminole & Orange County

Housing: Participants in this internship must provide their own housing

Eligibility

Authorized to work for any U.S.-based employer upon graduation

Be enrolled in a trade school/college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program

Must be at least 16 years of age

Must possess unrestricted work authorization

Marketing Internship

Responsibilities:

The Marketing Internship Team will manage programs and planned initiatives that range across every stage of the consumer pathway – from awareness to consideration to conversion. In partnership with a host of discipline teams, the intern would also help execute communication plans to drive desired business results. 

A Day in the life of a Marketing Intern...

Coordinate and traffic consumer-direct website updates to manage the volume of requests and prioritization with the website team

Provide strategic input for the creative development of recurring marketing materials

Develop ad hoc online advertising (i.e. banner ads, website tiles) to support special offers

Serve as the hub for photo/video assets and creative cataloging

Assist in developing presentations

Implement budget requests

Execute media plan components such as marketing ad placements and job postings by coordinating with Clients, Design and communications partners, and/or Vendors

Coordinate photo & video shoots by developing timelines, scheduling Talent/Vendors, and arranging logistics

Assist with the end-to-end cycle for the development of promotional giveaways that support recruitment strategies

Prepare consumer research, market intelligence, and performance reporting for marketing tactics, as needed


Basic Qualifications:

Project managed a high-volume, fast-paced portfolio of tactical programs, details, and budgets

Developed productive partnerships in and out of marketing to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Possess strong written and verbal communication, plus excellent listening skills and superior professionalism

Demonstrate goal orientation and agile response to evolving business needs

Public Relations Internship

Responsibilities:

A Day In the Life of a Public Relations Intern...


Support domestic and international PR efforts that target a variety of media outlets including print, online and broadcast. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Answer media inquiries and assist with managing media relationships

Maintain media contact and project databases

Create and maintain coverage and project reports

Maintain news media website and press materials archive

Manage news photography library

Develop press event materials (i.e. media invitations, itineraries, collateral)

Develop story angles and media pitches

Write news releases, fact sheets, and other media materials

Produce photos for editorial and social use and develop news-style photo captions

Produce video content for broadcast and online channels

Assist with planning and executing media and press events

Coordinate media visits

Provide general administrative support

Assist with special projects as needed


Basic Qualifications:

Proficiency with Associated Press writing style

Previous roles in Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations or similar with experience in writing/reporting and project management

Proven research skills and an understanding of how the news media works

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and projects

Proven ability to clearly and succinctly communicate ideas both verbally and visually

Proven self-starter with demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently

Strong partnering and relationship skills needed to excel within a team environment

Motivated, positive attitude and a passion for communication

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop

Game Day Internship

Intern Description:

A Boom Game Day Intern will assist the Orlando Boom Coaching Staff & Front Office with the coordination and execution of game day operations. The intern will be responsible for making sure all details for game day are carried out in a professional and smooth manner. This is a hands-on opportunity to prepare and conduct a professional game atmosphere for the enjoyment of #BoomNation. During the internship, interns will have the opportunity to network with not only all of the Boom staff, but also League Officials, Professional Scouts, Orlando Boom Pro Am Players, and Sponsors.


Intern Functions:

Complete pre-game duties such as moving all promotional items into place for distribution prior to games, helping sponsors to their designated tables prior to doors opening, and assisting Boom Coaches during player check-in.

Oversee proper operation during the game. Duties include but are not limited to: Choosing the contestants for each promotion during the game, preparing and informing each contestant for their designated promotion, and making sure contestants are promptly in the proper location.

Work in conjunction with the Director of Game Day Operations with duties as assigned

Develop a monthly newsletter for #BoomNation

Assist with Live-Stream Production (Camera, Producer, Commentator, Graphics)

Assist with the preparation of promotional materials to support Orlando Boom in-game activities.


Basic Qualifications

Must be 16 years of age or older.


Additional Qualifications

Sports Marketing/Management, Marketing, and Event Planning majors are highly preferred.

Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Programs Excel and Word.

Experience working with Photoshop preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be innovative and be self-motivated to complete tasks.

Must be able to express enthusiasm for the sport and the fans.

Must be comfortable speaking to large groups of guests, staff members, and professionals within the sport of Basketball.


Working Conditions

Must be available to attend 75% Boom Pro Am home games and other related events, as assigned.

The season runs from mid-May through the beginning of August. Game days will always be Sunday's and hours will vary with promotions and assistance required.

Must be able to follow the professional appearance standards established by Orlando Boom.
